A LITTLE MORE CONTEXT

Good questions.

A closer look at the platform
and the research behind a decision.

What is Market Studio?

Market Studio is a trading and research platform that brings market charting, strategy backtesting, parameter optimisation, portfolio analysis and trading tools into a flexible workspace. You can arrange tools in panels, tabs and separate windows to suit the way you work.

Can I use it for both discretionary and systematic trading?

Yes. Charts, indicators, drawing tools, screeners and order management support discretionary workflows. Strategy backtesting, optimisation, walk-forward testing and portfolio research support systematic research. Both can share the same workspace.

How can I organise instruments and contract details?

Browse instruments by broker and asset type, create reusable groups and inspect each contract's sizing, pricing and local history coverage. You can create or duplicate custom instruments, keep field overrides separate from broker defaults and define reusable trading hours with weekly sessions and holidays.

Can I customise charts and screener columns?

Use indicators such as session Pivot Points alongside drawing tools such as Fibonacci retracements and extensions. Save chart templates for reuse. Screeners support sparklines, indicator timeframes and separate output columns grouped under one header, so related values stay together.

What can I build with C#?

Create trading algorithms and streaming indicators with the Market Studio plugin SDK. Use your indicators in charts and screeners, research algorithms with backtests and optimisation, and configure them for automated strategies. Reusable chart, screener and workspace templates help package a complete workflow.

Can I connect my scripts or MCP tools?

Yes. Explore hundreds of REST endpoints through the generated API catalogue, OpenAPI and searchable documentation. Connect local MCP clients to launch research jobs, inspect results and invoke supported desktop workflows. Live-account execution uses Market Studio's preflight and approval workflow.

How can I test a strategy?

Choose a strategy, instruments, a historical period and its parameters, then run a backtest. Inspect the report, equity, drawdown and individual trades. Optimisation explores parameter combinations, while walk-forward testing separates training and evaluation windows.

What can I do with portfolios?

Combine the daily-close returns of saved strategy runs, explore strategy selection and allocations, and examine the resulting portfolio metrics and factor risk. This helps you study combinations of research results. Running a live portfolio is a separate execution workflow.

What can I inspect in a risk model?

Explore factor exposures, factor and residual contributions, modelled volatility and VaR, covariance and correlation, stress scenarios, rolling validation and data coverage. Save a dated risk run and compare its exposures with a benchmark. The results depend on the selected model, proxies and available history.

How does liquidity analysis work?

Market Studio uses traded-volume history and your participation and stress assumptions to estimate capacity, liquidation horizons and hypothetical exit costs. It shows excluded or missing inputs so you can assess the basis of the result. Actual executable liquidity, timing and costs can differ from these modelled estimates.

Where can I use Market Studio?

Market Studio runs on Windows and macOS, with native workspaces, tabs and multiple windows. Arrange your charts, research and trading tools across displays to suit the way you work.

How do workspaces, tabs and windows fit together?

Save a panel arrangement as a named workspace and switch between saved layouts. Keep multiple workspaces open concurrently, organise charts and research in tabs, and move tabs or panels between native windows on Windows and macOS.

Does a good backtest guarantee future performance?

No. Historical and simulated results do not guarantee future performance. Data quality, assumptions, trading costs, execution conditions and overfitting all affect how research translates to real markets. Trading involves risk, including loss of capital.

How can I receive alerts away from a chart?

Market Studio supports background indicator monitors, combined screener rules, alerts emitted by C# algorithms and indicators, and economic-calendar reminders. The notification centre also tracks trading, research and system events. Delivery options depend on the source and include in-app, local desktop, sound, Telegram and Discord. The Market Studio server and data feed must keep running. Optional chart attachments require an available primary Market Studio window; Telegram and Discord need your configured bots and destinations.

Can I distribute backtests and optimisations?

Yes. Run research on a configured worker or distribute batch jobs across a worker pool. Each complete backtest or optimisation runs on one executor with its own data and plugins; one backtest is not split across machines. Market Studio tracks progress and downloads completed results into your research history. Remote machines require a prepared, authenticated HTTPS connection.
